Guwahati: Actor Mahie Gill is expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Punjab chapter in Chandigarh on February 7, bringing star power to the party ahead of the Punjab Assembly election.
In December of last year, the Dev D actor campaigned for Harmohinder Singh Lucky, a Congress candidate from Ward No. 2. She had previously stated that Lucky was a childhood friend of hers and that she was merely assisting him.
She reportedly stated that she had “no plans to enter politics,” but that she “could do so in the future.”
Meanwhile, Kamal Dhaliwal, commonly known as “Hobby Dhaliwal,” a prominent Punjabi actor, also joined the BJP today.
Hobby Dhaliwal has worked in a number of films, including Thana Sadar, Jinde Meriye Dilaawar, Angrej, Punjabian Da King Balraj Singh, Saab Bahadar, Lahoriye, Jora 10 Numbaria, Ardaas Karaan, Manje Bistre, and Ik Sandhu Hunda Si.
Punjab elections will take place on February 10th. On March 10th, the results will be announced.
