Paramilitary Forces Told to Recall Personnel on Leave Following Indian Strikes in Pakistan

NEW DELHI — In the aftermath of Indian armed forces’ strikes inside Pakistan on May 7, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the chiefs of all paramilitary forces to immediately recall personnel currently on leave, according to high-level sources.

The directive comes as part of a broader alert issued in response to heightened tensions following Operation Sindoor — India’s retaliatory strike for the brutal April 22 terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives. Shah described the strike as a decisive response by Bharat to the killings of innocents, reaffirming the Modi government’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism.

Shah is in continuous communication with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, urging them to take urgent steps to protect the civilian population living in border areas. He instructed that residents in vulnerable regions be moved to safer locations and that all emergency bunkers be prepared to provide immediate shelter if the situation escalates.

In a comprehensive review of the internal security landscape, Shah asked top security officials across the country to remain on high alert and intensify surveillance efforts. The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have been placed on standby with orders to bolster presence in sensitive zones.

The Home Minister stressed that the government’s commitment to national security remains unwavering. “Bharat will continue to give a befitting reply to any attack on its soil. The mission to eliminate terrorism from its roots is not just a policy — it is a resolve,” Shah is believed to have told senior officials.

As tensions continue to simmer along the borders, the Indian government appears prepared for any further provocations, reinforcing both its defensive and offensive postures in the face of escalating regional threats.
