Parliament’s Budget Session to Commence on July 22, Union Budget Presentation on July 23

National Desk, 6th July: The upcoming budget session of Parliament is scheduled to commence on July 22 and will extend until August 12, announced Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju today. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is slated to present the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 on July 23.

This session marks the first comprehensive gathering of Parliament since the newly elected members of the 18th Lok Sabha took their oaths during a brief session held from June 24 to July 2. The decision to convene both Houses of Parliament was approved by President Droupadi Murmu following the government’s recommendation.

The budget presentation holds significant importance as it will be the first for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in its third consecutive term. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hinted at an era of “bold decisions” for this term, indicating potential major policy initiatives.

During the inaugural session of the 18th Lok Sabha, vigorous debates ensued between the opposition and the government on various issues, including the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG examination. Despite the tense atmosphere, both Houses successfully adopted the motion of thanks on President Murmu’s address, delivered on June 27.
