Guwahati: Former Gujarat Congress working president and Patidar leader Hardik Patel is all set to join the BJP on June 2.
Patel’s decision to join the BJP is noteworthy since it comes just ahead of the Gujarat Assembly elections, which are expected to take place by the end of this year.
Patel resigned from the party on May 19 claiming that Gujarat Congress leaders were more concerned with ensuring that the politicians who came from Delhi to Gujarat got their “chicken sandwich” on time than with addressing real issues in the state.
Patel further said that Gujarat Congress leaders “sitting in the AC chambers” tried to sabotage his political efforts.
