Persistent Deluge Paralyses Sribhumi, Residents Plead for MP’s Intervention

Sribhumi and its neighbouring localities are grappling with severe distress as relentless rainfall over the past few days has brought life to a standstill. The incessant downpour has triggered widespread disruptions, critically impacting both rail and local transport networks, leaving thousands stranded and increasingly desperate.

The situation in Betail, a key area adjacent to Sribhumi, is particularly dire, with two crucial sections of the railway line succumbing to extensive landslides. Further compounding the crisis, a guard wall alongside the railway track linking Karimganj Station to Mahisasan has catastrophically collapsed. This structural failure has not only halted train movements but also ignited serious safety concerns, with experts cautioning about potential long-term hazards to railway operations in the region.

Adding to the woes of the beleaguered residents, the primary thoroughfare vital for daily commutes has been rendered completely impassable due to a combination of fresh landslides and severe waterlogging. This has effectively cut off residents from essential services, prompting urgent appeals for immediate government intervention to restore connectivity and alleviate their suffering.

In a collective and poignant plea, the distressed populace of Sribhumi has implored their elected Member of Parliament to undertake an on-ground visit to personally witness the grim reality of their situation. “Please visit our area at least once,” resonated the desperate voices of residents, highlighting their rapidly deteriorating living conditions and a palpable sense of abandonment. As public frustration continues to simmer, local authorities have, as of yet, remained conspicuously silent regarding any concrete plans for restoration or relief efforts.
