PFC Partners with Assam Bio-Refinery for Rs 3,037.50 Crore Loan

Guwahati, 14th February: The Power Finance Corporation (PFC), a state-owned entity, has entered into an agreement with Assam Bio-Refinery Pvt Ltd (ABRPL) to provide a loan of Rs 3,037.50 crore for the establishment of a bio-refinery plant in Numaligarh.

According to a statement, the plant, with a capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum, will utilize dry bamboo as its primary raw material.

Expected to cost Rs 4,200 crore, the project will include the production of 2G bioethanol, as well as other products such as furfuryl alcohol, acetic acid, and liquid CO2. Additionally, a 24 MW bio-coal-based captive power plant will be integrated into the facility.

ABRPL stands out as one of the pioneering bio-refineries focused on producing ethanol from bamboo biomass. The joint venture comprises three promoters, namely Numaligarh Refinery Ltd, along with two foreign companies, Fortum and Chempolis from Finland.
