Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in a tweet that 50 percent of seats in private medical colleges will be charged the same costs as seats in government medical colleges.
This decision was made after students were forced to enrol at private medical colleges in foreign countries due to a lack of places in government medical colleges and the high cost of private medical colleges in India.
Sharing the news on Twitter, PM Modi wrote, “We have decided that half of the seats in private medical colleges will be charged at the same rate as government medical colleges.”

PM Modi stated that the decision will benefit children from lower and moderate-income families.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has also informed that this judgement will be effective beginning with the next academic session.
