National Desk, 22nd September: On World Rhino Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s dedication to protecting rhinos, stating, “Today, on #WorldRhinoDay, let us reiterate our commitment to protect one of our planet’s most iconic species—rhinos.” He praised those involved in conservation efforts and encouraged visits to Kaziranga National Park in Assam to witness its success.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma echoed Modi’s sentiments, highlighting the significant drop in poaching—86% since 2016—under the current government. He expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s leadership in enhancing rhino safety.
This joint commitment marks a crucial step in wildlife conservation, particularly for the one-horned rhinoceros thriving in Assam’s rich ecosystems.
