National Desk, 30th October: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs. 2 lakh for the next of kin of those who died in a tragic train accident in Andhra Pradesh. He also announced Rs. 50,000 for those who were injured in the incident.
The accident occurred when two trains collided in Vizianagaram district, resulting in at least six fatalities and multiple injuries. The Visakhapatnam-Ragada passenger train reportedly collided with the Visakhapatnam-Ragada train traveling on the same route, causing three coaches to derail.
Rescue operations are in progress, with relief teams and local administration at the accident site. The situation is now under control.
