PM Modi Assures Full Support to Assam CM Sarma Amidst Flood Crisis
Guwahati, 1st July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma received a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 1, discussing the escalating flood situation in the state. The conversation primarily centered on Assam’s battle with its second wave of floods this year, triggered by heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh and parts of upper Assam.
During the call, Sarma provided an update on the flood conditions and outlined the relief measures initiated by the state government. The flooding has severely impacted several districts, disrupting normal life and posing significant challenges to residents and authorities alike.
“I explained to him that Assam is experiencing a second wave of floods this year due to heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh and parts of our upper Assam districts. I also briefed him about the relief measures undertaken by the state government,” Sarma wrote on Twitter.
Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern over the situation and assured Sarma of the central government’s full cooperation in managing the crisis.
“He assured me of full cooperation from the Government of India in this hour of crisis,” Sarma added.
The interaction underscores the collaborative efforts between the state and central governments to address the flood-induced challenges in Assam, with ongoing relief operations aimed at mitigating the impact on affected communities.
