PM Modi Chairs High-Level Security Meet Ahead of Crucial India-Pakistan Military Talks

New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a significant security meeting this morning at his official residence, setting the stage for pivotal discussions slated between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan later today.

The top-level huddle saw the participation of key figures in India’s security apparatus, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan. The chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force were also present, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the deliberations.

This crucial meeting comes on the heels of a recently established understanding between the two neighbouring nations to halt all military activities across land, air, and sea, a ceasefire that commenced on May 10, 2025. This agreement marked a de-escalation following a period of increased tensions, triggered by the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which prompted India’s assertive Operation Sindoor. The operation reportedly neutralized over a hundred terrorists, including key commanders, across multiple terror training facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

During the high-stakes meeting, Prime Minister Modi stressed the critical need for unwavering vigilance along India’s borders. He directed the military leadership to maintain a posture of strong readiness and to respond firmly to any potential acts of aggression originating from Pakistan. Reaffirming India’s unyielding stance against terrorism, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of clearly conveying this resolute position during the impending DGMO-level talks.

The DGMO talks scheduled for later today are anticipated to centre on the meticulous implementation of the newly agreed ceasefire and the establishment of mechanisms to prevent any future resurgence of hostilities. This engagement will be the second formal dialogue between the top military commanders of both nations since the recent period of heightened tensions.

Sources indicate that the high-level meeting convened by Prime Minister Modi underscores India’s proactive and multi-faceted approach to safeguarding national security. It highlights the nation’s commitment to engaging in diplomatic channels while simultaneously maintaining a firm stance against any threats to its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
