PM Modi Chairs Union Cabinet Meeting After Operation Sindoor Strikes Terror Bases in Pakistan, PoK

NEW DELHI — In a swift move following the Indian Armed Forces’ overnight precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday to review the nation’s security posture and reinforce India’s stance against cross-border terrorism.

The meeting came just hours after India launched a coordinated missile offensive targeting nine high-value terror bases across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The strikes were carried out in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists. Key targets included the Jaish-e-Mohammad’s headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s strategic hub in Muridke, signalling India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terror sanctuaries.

Prior to the Cabinet meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval briefed the Prime Minister on the execution and outcomes of the operation. Sources said Modi had earlier granted the armed forces full autonomy to determine the timing, strategy, and targets of the retaliatory action.

Later today, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) is expected to convene separately to further evaluate the impact of the strikes and the evolving security environment. A resolution acknowledging and endorsing Operation Sindoor is also anticipated during the CCS session.

The swift Cabinet-level response underscores the Modi government’s firm resolve to protect national sovereignty and respond with decisive force to acts of terror. As tensions simmer, India’s leadership continues to project both military preparedness and political unity in the face of external threats.
