PM Modi: Congress Stole Funds Intended for Northeast & Turned Blind Eye to Nagaland’s Problems

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a stinging attack on Congress on February 24 alleging that the grand old party misappropriated funds intended for the Northeast.

According to Modi, Congress ignored the problems in Nagaland and is now paying for its transgressions.

”Congress stole the money meant for Northeast and gave a deaf ear to Nagaland issues. Now the party paying the price of its sins,” Modi said while addressing a public rally in Nagaland’s Chumoukedima.

The prime minister added that the party’s rule created instability in the state and that Congress ignored Nagaland’s aspirations.

In response to the development, the prime minister stated that the state and the saffron party are striving towards a wave of progress and trust.

While criticising the opposition party, Modi claimed that although the Congress viewed the Northeast as an ATM, the BJP-led administration has since changed its position as the region moves towards development.

The Prime Minister also lauded Nagaland minister Temjen Imna Along for uniting people and representing the Northeast and added, ”Northeast is Centre’s biggest resource”.

”Peace, Progress, and Prosperity is our development mantra and central schemes are reaching one and all,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi stated that the same has been removed, adding speaking over the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA),  ” The government is working on plans so that AFSPA can put aside from this region”.

According to Modi, the BJP has successfully transformed the split policy of the Congress into a heavenly one and there has been a significant improvement in connectivity.

”There has been a massive development in the road, railways, and airways connectivity as well in infrastructure,” he avowed.

Later, Modi declared that he would keep the commitment he had made to the Naga people.
