PM Modi Extends Greetings on National Voters’ Day, Encourages Voter Registration
National Desk, 25th January: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes on National Voters’ Day and encouraged those who haven’t registered as voters to do so.
Addressing the ‘Nav Matdata Sammelan’ virtually, which brought together first-time voters from across India, PM Modi spoke to lakhs of first-time voters on National Voter’s Day through 5,000 plus organized ‘NaMo Nav Matadata Sammelans.’
The event marked the first time a PM has addressed first-time voters on such a large scale, emphasizing their role in nation-building.
National Voters Day is observed on January 25 annually since 2011, commemorating the foundation day of the Election Commission (EC).
The day aims to promote voter participation, and the EC conducts drives to facilitate the enrollment of voters, especially new ones.
