PM Modi goes underwater, Prays at Dwarka’s Submerged City in Gujarat

National Desk, 25th February: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a remarkable journey into the depths of the Arabian Sea to offer prayers at the site of the submerged city of Dwarka.

Undertaking this deep-sea route to visit the ancient Dwarka Nagri, PM Modi’s pilgrimage signifies a profound connection to India’s spiritual and historical heritage.

Dwarka, closely associated with Lord Shri Krishna, was once a flourishing center of grandeur and prosperity, making this sacred site of immense significance.

Prior to this spiritual endeavor, PM Modi inaugurated Sudarshan Setu, the country’s longest cable-stayed bridge, linking Okha to Beyt Dwarka island.

An official statement from the Devbhumi Dwarka administration disclosed the completion of this impressive 2.32-kilometer-long bridge, featuring a central double-span cable-stayed portion spanning 900 meters, alongside a 2.45-kilometer-long approach road.

Constructed at a cost of Rs 979 crore, the bridge boasts a width of 27.20 meters and 2.50-meter-wide footpaths on either side. Originally named the ‘Signature Bridge,’ it has been rechristened as ‘Sudarshan Setu’ or Sudarshan Bridge, as confirmed by District Magistrate (DM) GT Pandya.

Sudarshan Setu establishes a vital link to Beyt Dwarka, situated approximately 30 kilometers from Dwarka town, renowned for the revered Dwarkadhish temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. Previously, access to the temple was restricted to daytime boat trips. However, with the inauguration of the new bridge, officials anticipate round-the-clock accessibility to the temple, heralding a new era of convenience and connectivity for devotees.
