Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the national flag and addressed the country from the Red Fort’s ramparts in New Delhi on Monday, the 76th anniversary of India’s independence.
Modi arrived to Rajghat to honour Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation Before giving his speech.
The Guard of Honour that was posted there was also examined by Modi along with inspecting the National Flag across the moat below the walls.
On his arrival in the Red Fort, he was received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt and Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar.
A combined Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard then gave the Prime Minister a standing salute.
