PM Modi Honors Sardar Patel on National Unity Day at the Statue of Unity

National Desk, 31st October: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31st October marked the birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrated as National Unity Day, with a solemn tribute at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Narmada district.

The impressive ‘Statue of Unity’ was inaugurated by PM Modi on October 31, 2018, as a remarkable homage to Sardar Patel.

The event took place in Ekta Nagar, previously known as Kevadia, where the Prime Minister led the unity oath.

On this momentous occasion, commemorating the 148th birth anniversary of the ‘Iron Man,’ PM Modi observed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) parade, featuring marching contingents from the Border Security Force and the state police force.

Since 2014, October 31 has been consistently observed as National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. The ‘Run for Unity’ event, organized nationwide on this day, serves as a unifying platform where people from all walks of life come together to pay their respects and celebrate unity and diversity in India.
