Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a special series of visually impaired-friendly coins on Monday.
The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) design will appear on coins in the values of Re 1, Rs 2, 5, 10, and 20. These coins are not commemorative and will be circulated.
Addressing the iconic week celebration of the Ministry of Finance, PM Modi said, “These new series of coins will remind people of the objective of amrit kal and urge people to work towards the growth of the country.”
Modi also announced the inauguration of the ‘Jan Samarth site,’ a credit-linked portal with 12 government initiatives.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said each of these programmes will be featured on the platform. “This site will make it simple for citizens to access government programmes without having to ask the same questions over and again.”
