PM Modi Likely to Visit Party Office in Gujarat Today as BJP looks set for HISTORIC win
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evening is anticipated to make a visit to the Gujarat party headquarters as the governing BJP is projected to win the Gujarat Assembly election in a landslide to secure a record-breaking seventh consecutive term in office.
A BJP source claims that the prime minister will speak at a significant rally and express his gratitude to the people of his state for the overwhelming win of his party.
PM Modi will be briefed by the top state BJP leaders and interact with the newly-elected party MLAs.
Bhupendra Patel, the incumbent chief minister, is leading in Ghatlodia and is most likely to be re-elected as the head of the BJP legislative party, therefore the party is also likely to put its stamp on him.
Although the opposition criticised the Modi government over growing inflation, sluggish growth, and unemployment, the state of Gujarat, a longtime stronghold of the BJP and where Modi served as chief minister from 2001 to 2014, does not appear to have been affected.
After the BJP decimated them, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) first appeared to be fighting it out to become the state’s primary opposition party, with the grand old party having the upper hand. The Congress and the AAP were leading in 20 and six constituencies respectively.
