PM Modi praised first Methanol export from Assam To Bangladesh
Guwahati, 4 July: The first shipment of methanol from the Assam Petrochemical Plant to Bangladesh was lauded on Monday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a step towards becoming Assam a significant petrochemical exporter.
In response to a tweet from Himanta Biswa Sarma, PM Modi stated that the region’s petrochemical industry would benefit from the significant industrial development.
“This will boost the petrochemicals sector in Assam and the entire Northeast,” tweeted PM Modi.
The first shipment of methanol bound for Bangladesh was flagged off by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 1 at the Assam Petrochemicals Plant in Namrup, marking a significant step towards making Assam a significant exporter of petrochemicals.
In order to simplify the transportation of the industrial outputs from Brahmaputra Valley Fertilisers Corporation Limited, Assam Petrochemicals Limited and Namrup Thermal Plant, CM Sarma also essentially lay the foundation stone for the creation of the Joypur Chariali and Namrup Sonari Tiniali highways.
Speaking at the event, CM Sarma stated that the APL 500 TPD plant was officially inaugurated by the prime minister on April 14, 2023, and that it has since begun manufacturing methanol.
He was pleased to start the process of shipping the methanol made at APL to nearby nations like Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan which will help the government to establish Assam as a petrochemical powerhouse.
Along with selling its goods overseas, this growth, will also help APL’s financial situation.
Chief minister claimed that New Delhi had provided BVFCL with assistance of Rs 100 crore and the State government had assisted in the hospital’s construction.
As opposed to the BVFCL’s Rs 98 crore loss from the previous year, CM Sarma claimed that the business made a profit of Rs 12 this year signalling progress in Namrup’s development as an industrial town.
Chief minister also reaffirmed his commitment to Naharkatia’s development stating that plans had been made to build a road connecting Joypur Chariali and Dillighat. The road has been widened from its previous 5.50 metres to 7 metres. Additionally, Namrup will have concrete drainage along the highways.
