PM Modi Says BJP Will Win All 5 State Elections

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win an absolute majority in the Assembly elections in the five states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Manipur.

In an interview to ANI, Modi said “I have witnessed a tendency towards the BJP in all states, and we will win the elections with a full majority. People in all five states would give the BJP the chance to serve them.”

Modi alleged Congress, SP and RLD promoted dynasty politics, ‘the biggest enemy of democracy’. He stated that his government supports small and marginal farmers. He lauded Yogi Adityanath’s administration, listing a slew of programmes targeted at helping the poor and marginalised.

“When a family runs a party for generations, there is only dynasty, not dynamics. Beginning in Jammu and Kashmir, where two parties are run by two different families, a similar tendency can be seen in Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Democracy’s greatest foe is dynastic politics.”

He added that socialist stalwarts Ram Manohar Lohia and George Fernandes’ families were not involved in politics. No member of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s family is involved in politics. The term ‘fake samajwad’ refers to family politics. Modi made a reference to the SP reign in Uttar Pradesh, saying that at one point, 45 members of a family held various government positions.

He claimed of invoking Jawaharlal Nehru in his remarks, “I didn’t say anything bad about anyone’s father or grandpa…I stated what a former Prime Minister had stated… It is the nation’s right. They claim we don’t mention Jawaharlal Nehru Ji. If we do, we will face difficulties as well. I’m not sure what this fear is about.”

“How can I respond to a person who does not listen and avoids Parliament?” Modi replied when asked about Rahul Gandhi’s accusation that he did not address problems made in the House.

Modi claimed that the Adityanath government agreed to whichever committee and judge the Supreme Court wanted to form to investigate the Lakhimpur matter.

He stated “Farm laws were enacted for the advantage of farmers and then repealed in the national interest… I came to win the hearts of farmers and succeeded. I understand the hardships that small farmers face.”

He debunked the assumption that no government in UP is ever voted back into power. “In 2014, we were victorious. In 2017 and 2019, we received votes. UP has disproved the previous theory. In 2014, 2017, and 2019, they accepted us. In 2022, they’ll accept us.” He asserted that in UP, there was anti-incumbency, and that the BJP would win in all five states that went to the polls.
