PM Modi to address a public rally in Dimapur on Feb 24
Guwahati: Prior to the conclusion of the election campaigns on February 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive in Nagaland.
According to reports, PM Modi will speak at a rally hosted by the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, which is led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and the BJP in Dimapur, party spokeswoman Nalin Kohli told the media.
Meanwhile, Kohli on February 22 campaigned for BJP candidate Renponthung Ezung who will contest from Wokha.
BJP national spokesperson and in charge of Nagaland Nalin Kohli said that There is still more work to be done in Nagaland’s road sector.
“I think when we talk about roads there are three stages to it. The first is creating a road or giving access for movement which is also a big challenge for Nagaland. The second is building a good road in terms of blacktopping and other things. The third is to be able to maintain it given the weather, the rain, and the landslide. There are multiple issues,” Kohli explained while replying to a question on road conditions in Nagaland at a press conference at the BJP office on February 18.
He continued by saying that the ultimate plan is to improve connection, particularly for Nagaland. “Wherever and whenever the BJP comes to power infrastructure is the utmost,” the BJP leader said.
According to Kohli, the BJP’s vision paper calls for funding for state and national roadways totaling Rs 10,000 crore.
The BJP and NDPP both decided to stick with their alliance in the 2018 state elections. The BJP is running for 20 Assembly seats, while the NDPP will run for the remaining 40 seats as part of the seat-sharing deal struck by the partners.
On the other hand, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla claimed that the people of Nagaland has “accepted” the BJP, its leaders, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton.
