PM Modi to Inaugurate Advantage Assam 2.0, Investment Proposals Expected to Cross ₹120 Lakh Crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the two-day Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit today, marking a major push for economic growth in the northeastern state. The high-profile event will witness the participation of top industrialists, foreign delegations, and policymakers, with investment proposals expected to exceed ₹120 lakh crore.

Business tycoons including Mukesh Ambani (Reliance Industries), Gautam Adani (Adani Group), Sajjan Jindal (JSW Group), Prashant Ruia (Essar), and Anil Agrawal (Vedanta) are scheduled to attend the inaugural session alongside PM Modi. In addition, ambassadors from 61 countries will participate, with business delegations from Bhutan, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan highlighting the summit’s international significance.

The event will feature key thematic sessions focusing on Assam’s critical growth sectors, including tea, tourism, healthcare, renewable energy, and infrastructure development. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will preside over discussions on Indo-Bhutan economic ties and the Act East policy, while Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will lead a session on “Way to Viksit Assam.”

On the second day, Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hardeep Singh Puri, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Piyush Goyal will take part in discussions, with Nitin Gadkari addressing the summit virtually. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to deliver the valedictory address, concluding the summit on Wednesday.

With Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also in attendance, Advantage Assam 2.0 aims to solidify Assam’s position as the premier investment destination in India’s northeast, opening new avenues for economic expansion and global collaboration.
