PM Modi Touches Feet Of Freedom Fighter’s Daughter, Seeks Blessing
Guwahati: The late Andhra Pradeshn freedom fighter Pasala Krishna Murthy’s family was greeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
PM Modi met Pasala Krishna Bharathi, the daughter of the illustrious liberation fighter. The 90-year-old Ms Bharathi, on a wheelchair, blessed PM Modi who also met her sister and niece.
Pasala Krishna Murthy, who was born in 1900 in the village of West Vipparru in the Tadepalligudem taluka of the West Godavari district, and his wife joined the Congress party in 1921. He was a follower of Gandhi and participated in the Salt Satyagraha movement for which he received a one-year prison term. He passed away in 1978.
Prime Minister Modi unveiled the 30-foot-tall bronze statue of the independence hero on Monday at a special event honouring Alluri Sitarama Raju’s 125th birth anniversary celebrations in Andhra Pradesh’s Bhimavaram.
