PM Narendra Modi Lays Foundation Stone for Kedarnath Ropeway Project

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the cornerstone for the 9.7-kilometer ropeway project between Gaurikund and Kedarnath on Friday. The ropeway will take pilgrims 30 minutes to go from Gaurikund to the shrine.

The Prime Minister also offered prayers at the Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines during his two-day visit to Uttarakhand.

The prime minister performed a “puja” at the Kedarnath temple in the Rudraprayag area before flying in a helicopter to the Badrinath shrine in Chamoli.

Modi will review a number of ongoing development projects while on his two-day tour of the state and lay the cornerstones for a few brand-new ones.

The prime minister participated in the “puja” at the temples while dressed in a white hill people traditional outfit with a swastika stitched on it.

The priests who conducted the “puja” prayed to the prime minister for courage to lead the nation ahead.

Moreover, Modi spent some time at Adi Guru Shankaracharya’s Samadhi Sthal in Kedarnath.

He will evaluate the advancement of the riverside development projects at Badrinath Dham.

The prime minister will stay the night at Badrinath.

The Prime Minister arrived at the Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun earlier in the day on an Indian Air Force (IAF) plane, and General Gurmit Singh, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Union minister Ajay Bhatt met him there. This is Modi’s sixth trip to Kedarnath and his second as prime minister to Badrinath.

The two well-known hill temples have increased security in preparation for the prime minister’s arrival. Quintals of flowers have been used to embellish both temples.
