Police Officer Accused of Torturing Maid Suspended in Assam
Guwahati, 31st August: APS Subhalakshmi Dutta, who was accused of torturing her maid in Assam’s Nazira, has been placed under suspension with immediate effect. She was posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Charaideo before her suspension.
The maid of the suspended police officer had filed a complaint alleging that she was tortured by her employer, including being subjected to hot water pouring. A criminal case was registered against Subhalakshmi Dutta after the incident came to light, and she was previously closed to Assam Police Headquarters.
The suspension order reveals that two prior cases were registered against Subhalakshmi for being involved in similar incidents, including assaulting a home guard and another individual. Pending the drawl of Departmental Proceedings, she has been placed under suspension in accordance with the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964.
