Police Raid Seizes Truck with Arunachal Liquor on Assam-Bengal Border

Northeast Desk, 6th July: In a decisive late-night operation, Shimultapu police intercepted a 12-wheeler truck loaded with a significant quantity of Arunachal liquor on National Highway 31 at Srirampur, near the Assam-Bengal border in the Gosaigaon subdivision. The truck, registered under MP 20 GA 6795, was stopped during a routine search, leading to the detention of both the driver and the handyman.

The arrested individuals, identified as Harendra Prasad Singh (38) from Jehanabad district, Bihar, and Bibhas Kumar (37) from Vaishali district, were taken into custody. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Sanjay Kumar Roy, in-charge of Shimulatapu police station.

Police seized a total of 70 cartons of liquor from the truck, valued at over Rs 1.5 lakh in the market. Investigations into the incident are ongoing to ascertain the source and destination of the illegal consignment.
