Police Rescue 43 Cattle Heads in Two Separate Incidents

Guwahati: As many as 43 cattle heads were rescued by the Assam police in two different incidents in the state on Friday.

As per reports, 29 cattle heads were rescued after police intercepted a truck in Khetri of Assam, on suspicion of transporting cattle heads illegally on Friday.

Reportedly, the truck with the registration number AS 02 CC 2289 was seized by police and two suspects were arrested in connection to it.

The accused were identified as Azizul Islam and Shahidul Ali, residents of Samaguri in Nagaon district.

Along with the truck, police also seized a Terrano car with registration number AS 01 BP 9339. According to the police sources, the truck was following the seized car.

In a separate incident, Assam Police seized a container vehicle in Jamugurihat, Sonitpur district, earlier today.

Reportedly, 14 cattle heads were extracted from the container with the registration AS 25 DC 8896.

The vehicle was on its way from Jorabat to Dhubri when it was stopped.

However, police said the driver fled the scene.

“According to the information we received, there should have been 23 cattle heads, but we only found 14 of them”, police added.
