Police seizes huge consignment of drugs from Guwahati Railway station; 3 held
Guwahati: In a major breakthrough, a huge quantity of narcotics has been seized by Railway Police from Guwahati Railway Station on Wednesday.
According to reports, Government Railway Police (GRP) officers stationed at the Guwahati railway station seized drugs and international cigarettes during the operation.
Officials informed that as much as 700 grams of morphine, a type of opioid, and foreign cigarettes.
Police added that a total of three smugglers were detained during the operation, two of them for smuggling morphine and another in possession of cigarettes.
The medicines that were recovered are estimated to be worth around Rs 60 lakhs on the black market, they said.
Police further informed that the seizures were made from a northbound Rajdhani Express.
