Police Van Carrying Undertrial Falls Off Bridge in Assam, Several Injured
Guwahati: An inmate along with other five police officials have been injured after a police van in which they were travelling lost control and plunged down a bridge in Goalpara district of Assam on Wednesday.
The accident took place in Dudhnoi area of the district.
According to reports, the undertrial who was picked up from Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills, was in the van with a total of six police officers, including with a women.
Reportedly, the driver was sleep-deprived and fell asleep just before the collision.
Later, all of the injured were immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. The police van that had fallen into a pond was also pulled out with the help of a crane.
