Political Sparring Unfolds in Assam Between BJP’s Pijush Hazarika and Raijor Dal’s Akhil Gogoi

Guwahati, 30th December: In the dynamic political landscape of Assam, a notable exchange has transpired between Pijush Hazarika, a prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician and minister in Assam, and Akhil Gogoi, an influential MLA and leader of the Raijor Dal.

The discourse between the two political figures has revolved around various issues, including allegations of corruption and land ownership.

Known for his direct approach, Minister Hazarika has publicly urged MLA Gogoi to transcend caste-based politics and shift his focus to working for the betterment of Assam and India as a whole.

Taking the exchange to social media, BJP MLA Hazarika claimed that Akhil Gogoi had exposed traits of narrow-mindedness, frustration, egotism, and arrogance in a recent post.

Minister Hazarika clarified that the government’s commitment and Chief Minister Sarma’s affection for the Ahom community do not require certification from Akhil Gogoi. He emphasized that the indigenous community, including the Ahom people, consistently expresses their support for the government, as evident in every election and post-election scenario.

Hazarika accused MLA Gogoi of labeling the BJP and Chief Minister Sarma as communal while asserting that Gogoi himself has demonstrated tendencies of communalism.

Pointing to Akhil Gogoi’s political evolution, Hazarika highlighted his transition from a leader who made farmers proud to one who repeatedly emphasizes three specific Gogoi references. He questioned Gogoi’s inclination to use titles and caste in politics, asking about the absence of other titles like Gohain, Borgohain, Bora, and Saikia in Gogoi’s political team.

Minister Hazarika expressed skepticism about the inclusivity of Gogoi’s political team, raising questions about the presence of individuals with titles like Borgohain, Buragohain, Barua, and Phukan.

The exchange reflects the ongoing political dynamics in Assam, showcasing differing perspectives on issues ranging from governance to identity politics.
