Popular Assamese Actor Jupitora Bhuyan Joins Assam TMC

Guwahati: Popular Assamese actress Jupitora Bhuyan joined the Assam Trinamool Congress party on Friday in Guwahati in the presence of state president Ripun Bora.

The actress was welcomed to the party at a gathering held at the party’s Guwahati headquarters.

Speaking to the media, Bhuyan said, “Though I have joined the Assam TMC, but, I will continue my journey as an actor. People know me as an actress Jupitora Bhuyan, that’s my identity and I will stand by it.”  

Bhuyan added that there is no particular reason or interest to join the party. “Be it Congress, BJP or TMC, politics has only one meaning. I had the opportunity to work for people through TMC and so I joined them,” added Jupitora Bhuyan.  

When questioned about the state’s pressing problems, the actress flatly declined to say further. “Today I have come to join the party; let the party assign me my duty and then I will comment on it,” told Bhuyan to the media.

Meanwhile, state TMC president Ripun Bora asserted that the addition of actress Jupitora Bhuyan to the party will provide it a significant boost going forward.

It should be noted that Jupitora was born in Guwahati city of Assam. She attended Tarini Charan Girls School in Guwahati for her formal education before enrolling at Handique Girls College to pursue the arts.

She made her acting debut in a commissioned show on Doordarshan Guwahati around 2003.

In 2005, Bhuyan made his feature debut in Assamese cinema with the release of Sibanan Baruah’s Hiyar Dapunot Tumare Sobi, starring Ravi Sarma and Barsha Rani Bishaya. She has also appeared in a number of VCD movies, including Jon Tora and Unmona Mon.

She also makes her debut in the Assamese mobile theatre industry by portraying leading female roles in Kohinoor Theatre. She is particularly well-known for portraying remarkable characters with commanding physical attributes.
