Popular tourist destination of Sikkim Lachung to restrict entry till 30 November
One of the popular tourist destination of Sikkim Lachung has decided to sit out the state government’s move to reopen the state for tourism. The state government had recently released SOPs for Tourism Unlock 1.0, and tourism stakeholders in Lachung could easily have remain closed by not registering on the “crowd sourcing portal” that the department has made mandatory for tourism businesses to operate.
The Lachung Dzumsa convened an emergency meeting with tourism stakeholders and after consultation, decided that no tourists will be allowed to enter areas under the jurisdiction on Lachung Dzumsa till 30 November. “Lachung being on the remotest area of Sikkim we don’t have the proper medical facilities to dealt in case of COVID-19 like emergencies arises,” a press release issued by Lachung Dzumsa explains.
