Guwahati: Police revealed that the main suspect, Sanjib Biswas, who was detained for kidnapping a minor girl in Guwahati’s Birubari area, had sexually assaulted her.
According to reports, Biswas had entered the residence late at night without the family’s knowledge and taken off with the eight-year-old child.
Biswas, the main suspect in the case, was detained and interrogated by police after being taken into custody.
The minor girl was transported for a medical examination after telling the police everything that had happened.
As per reports, the examination showed evidence of sexual assault.
A case has been filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO) against the offender in light of the medical report that specifically mentions a sexual offence.
Reportedly, the young girl had been kidnapped from her home in Guwahati’s Birubari locality in yet another crime against children committed in the city.
The incident occurred in Guwahati’s Birubari area, and surveillance cameras captured the entire thing.
After opening an inquiry, a team of police officers from the Paltan Bazar police station were successful in finding and detaining the offender.
