Poultry Beneficiaries in Sikkim Receive Support Under NEC Scheme

Gangtok: In a bid to promote self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship, 60 out of 300 poultry beneficiaries from Sikkim’s Mabong Segeng GPU and Samsing Pipalay GPU received essential resources to kickstart their ventures under the North East Council (NEC) scheme.

The initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Department and the District Administrative Centre (DAC) Soreng, aims to boost rural livelihoods through structured support.

Each beneficiary was provided with 180 chicks, 10 sacks of poultry feed, and Rs 10,000 through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) to aid in constructing poultry sheds. Officials highlighted that the remaining beneficiaries would receive their resources soon, ensuring timely assistance for all participants.

The distribution event was attended by Soreng Zilla Upa Adakshya Chandra Bir Shanker, Panchayat members, and the Veterinary Inspector, reinforcing the government’s commitment to rural economic development.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Area MLA Madan Cintury for their unwavering support in fostering sustainable livelihood opportunities.
