PPA Fortifies Ranks, Tawang MLA Named Deputy Legislature Leader
Itanagar: In a significant move to consolidate its legislative presence and invigorate party machinery, the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) has announced key appointments within the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
During a legislature party meeting held on Sunday, under the stewardship of PPA President and Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek, Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering was designated as the Deputy Legislature Leader. Tsering, a first-time legislator, is one of the four recent cross-overs from the National People’s Party (NPP) who have bolstered the PPA’s strength.
The reshuffle also saw Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng ascend to the position of Legislature Party Leader, while Liromoba MLA Pesi Jilen was entrusted with the role of Chief Whip. These strategic appointments, as articulated by President Vivek, are integral to the party’s broader objective of revamping its structure and deepening its footprint at the grassroots level across Arunachal Pradesh. Vivek underscored that the extensive discussions at the meeting centred on filling crucial organizational vacancies and fortifying their political foundation statewide. With the inclusion of the four former NPP legislators – Namgey Tsering, Pesi Jilen, Tapi Darang, and Oni Panyang – the PPA’s legislative contingent now stands at six members, with Vivek and Tayeng, elected on PPA tickets in the 2024 Assembly elections, remaining as pivotal figures.
