Pradyot Manikya Urges Central Government to Expose Bangladesh at UN for Minority Atrocities
Northeast Desk, 22nd September: Tipra Motha Founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has called on the Indian government to raise the issue of minority atrocities in Bangladesh at the United Nations. Pradyot announced that his party will stage a protest on September 26 to denounce the attacks on minorities in the neighboring country.
“I have seen disturbing videos from Bangladesh where indigenous minorities are under attack—homes are being burned, and many have been killed. This has worsened since the weakening of the Hasina government. Hindus, Khasis, Garos, Tripuris, Chakmas, and Mogs are being targeted. This is unacceptable,” he said, highlighting the systematic nature of these assaults.
Pradyot emphasized that India’s role should extend beyond borders. “We must think about how to protect our people living on the other side of the international border. These attacks are organized, and the Bangladesh High Commissioner must be held accountable. India must take strong action and raise this issue at the UN. If Bangladesh cannot protect its minorities, international aid should be withheld,” he added.
He also stated that if Bangladesh fails in its responsibility to protect minorities, the creation of a separate country for these groups should be considered.
On September 26, Tipra Motha will rally in solidarity with the minorities of Bangladesh, condemning the ongoing attacks.
