‘Pragya Sadhak Award’ Conferred To Noted Intellectual Dr. Hiren Gohain
Guwahati: Renowned intellectual from Assam, Dr. Hiren Gohain has been conferred with the Pragya Sadhak Award on Sunday.
The Anirban Sanskritik Gusthi of Teok presented the honour to Gohain.
Hiren Gohain poked fun at the Assam BJP state administration in a statement to the media following the award ceremony.
Gohain declared, “Under the guise of Mission ‘Basundhara,’ the government is attempting to provide land to businessmen. In order for children to have space for sports and other leisure activities, enough land must be preserved in villages.”
Speaking on the Assam-Meghalaya border issue, Hiren Gohain asserted that there is no border between the two states because the government has yet to define it.
He added that the lack of strong Khasi leadership prevented the people from developing.
Hiren Gohain added, “The many movements organised by various tribal organisations and held around Assam are proving to be false. These movements have benefited numerous leaders and artists. However, a lot of intellectuals and artists are leading the public astray.”
