Pranay Verma Appointed Next Indian Envoy to Bangladesh

Guwahati: Senior diplomat Pranay Verma was appointed India’s new high commissioner to Bangladesh on Friday, a position that is significant given the two nations’ comprehensive strategic alliance.

Vikram Doraiswami will be replaced by Verma, an Indian Foreign Service officer from the 1994 batch who is currently serving as India’s envoy to Vietnam.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that “he is anticipated to take up the post shortly.”

Doraiswami will take over as the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, according to PTI.

Indian High Commissioner to the UK Gaitri Issar Kumar announced her retirement on June 30.

The next Indian ambassador to Vietnam will be Sandeep Arya, who is currently the MEA’s assistant secretary.
