Guwahati: An active overground worker of banned militant outfit People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) was arrested from Imphal East district of Manipur.
While launching a cordoned and search operation in the Keirao Wangkhem village of the district, the Keithelmanbi Battalion of Assam Rifles, police along with Thoubal Commandos led the apprehension.
According to reports, the apprehended Over Ground Worker was involved in an extortion scheme and the placement of Improvised Explosive Devices in the areas of Imphal East and Imphal West of the state.
Meanwhile, the seized OGW was handed over to the Iribung Police Station for further interrogation.
However, the identity of the arrested accused is yet to be ascertained by the police officials.
