Preparations in Full Swing for First Phase of Elections in Manipur
Northeast Desk, 18th April: Ahead of the first phase of elections in Manipur, district election officer Th Kirankumar has detailed the comprehensive preparations in progress to facilitate a smooth and secure polling process.
Kirankumar highlighted the deployment of polling personnel and security forces to their designated polling stations. He noted that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been opened and will soon be installed at their allotted locations.
Security measures have been intensified, with Kirankumar emphasizing the presence of a sufficient number of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel in vulnerable areas. Additionally, comprehensive surveillance measures such as CCTV cameras and videography will be implemented across all 538 polling stations to monitor activities and ensure transparency.
Out of the total polling stations, 70 have been classified as either vulnerable or critical. To strengthen oversight in these areas, micro observers will be deployed, with approximately 60 observers assigned to specific polling station locations.
