President and PM Extend Greetings on 76th Indian Army Day

National Desk, 15th January: On the 76th Indian Army Day, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed heartfelt greetings to the Indian Army personnel. Celebrated on January 15, the day commemorates General K.M. Cariappa taking over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief in 1949.

President Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, praised the Army’s pivotal role in ensuring national security. She commended their professionalism in conflicts, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, and disaster response. The President paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation.

In a video message, PM Modi lauded the extraordinary courage and sacrifices of the Army personnel, emphasizing their dedication to protecting the nation. He highlighted the Army’s role in conflicts and natural disasters, describing them as pillars of strength. PM Modi expressed confidence in the Army’s contributions to nation-building during the ‘Amrit Kaal,’ an era of national development.

The theme for Army Day 2024 was “In Service of the Nation,” reflecting the Army’s commitment. The celebrations included a grand parade in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, showcasing the Army’s might, discipline, and operational preparedness.

Both leaders expressed the nation’s gratitude to the soldiers for their indomitable courage and dedication, making the Indian Army one of the world’s strongest forces.
