President Kovind enjoys elephant safari at Kaziranga National Park

Guwahati: President of India Ram Nath Kovind enjoyed an elephant safari on Sunday at the Kaziranga National Park during his three-day visit to Assam.

President Kovind arrived in Kaziranga Friday night after attending Tezpur University’s 19th Convocation earlier in the day.

Apart from other scheduled activities, the Indian President and his family enjoyed an elephant safari in the national park early this morning on his second day in Kaziranga.

During his visit to Kaziranga, President Kovind is said to have gone on a jeep safari. The Kaziranga National Park was closed to the public on February 26 and 27, according to the Divisional Forest Officer of Kaziranga National Park’s directives.

During the President’s visit, all tourist activities, including Elephant Safari and Jeep Safari, will be closed in the Western Range, Bagori, and Kohora Ranges, according to the announcement.

Only the Burhapahar and Agoratoli ranges will be open as usual, according to the statement.

Following the safari, President Kovind is expected to attend a special event at the Kohora range’s forest department’s meeting hall.

It may be mentioned that President Ram Nath Kovind came in Guwahati on February 25 for a three-day visit to commemorate Lachit Borphukan’s 400th birthday. Professor Jagdish Mukhi, the Governor of Assam, and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, greeted him.
