President of India Droupadi Murmu is in London to Attend Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral

Guwahati: Droupadi Murmu, the president of India, arrived in London on Saturday to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral.

Visiting the UK for three days is President Murmu. In addition to attending the funeral, she has been invited to the King Charles III’s Sunday evening reception at Buckingham Palace for world leaders.

At the age of 96, Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8 at her Scottish vacation home, Balmoral Castle.

Prior to her funeral on September 19 in Westminster Abbey, she is lying in state in Westminster Hall.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had earlier announced that President Murmu will be visiting London to express condolences on behalf of the Indian government.

The MEA statement read, “In the 70 years of reign of HM Queen Elizabeth II, India-UK ties have evolved, flourished and strengthened immensely. She played an important role in the welfare of millions of people around the world as Head of the Commonwealth.”
