Primary School Headmaster Removed from Post for Carrying Machete to School
Guwahati: The headmaster of a lower primary school in Cachar district of Assam was removed on Monday after an odd event during which he entered the school brandishing a machete.
He was fired from his position as headmaster today by the education department after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to reports, 38-year-old Dhritimedha Das of Tarapur area in Silchar has been working as headmaster at the Radhamadhab Buniyadi School on Saturday morning carrying a machete (a broad, heavy knife used as an implement or weapon).
Deputy Inspector of Schools of Cachar district Parvez Neehal Hazari told ANI that the department has removed him from the post of headmaster and initiated departmental proceedings against him.
“We have given the charge of head master to the senior teacher of the school. Today, I asked him to reach at my office,” the Deputy Inspector of Schools said.
Dhritimedha Das was enraged and agitated due to “irregularities” by some other teachers, according to the Deputy Inspector of Schools for the Cachar region. He was attempting to warn them by demonstrating the dao.
A squad from Silchar’s Rabgirkhari police outpost responded quickly to a call from the school on Saturday morning informing them of the incident, recovered the weapon from Dhritimedha’s hands, and asked the education department to take further action.
