Prime Accused in Dhubri Shooting Incident Injured in Police Custody

Guwahati, 14th August: Rafiqul Islam, the prime accused in the recent Dhubri shooting incident, reportedly sustained injuries after being shot by the police while attempting to escape from custody. The incident occurred after his arrest from the Dheerghat region. Sources reveal that Islam was shot in the leg while trying to flee, and he was subsequently taken to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for medical treatment.

The shooting incident that took place in Sashargaon at Futkibari in the Bilasipara region caused panic and chaos among the locals. In a successful joint operation conducted by the Assam police and CRPF jawans, seven individuals, including the prime accused Rafiqul Islam, were apprehended. The operation, led by Dhubri Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabin Singh, resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

Rafiqul Islam’s association with the Chakrashila neighborhood has raised further questions about the gang’s activities in the area. The gang, known for its history of theft, was found to possess incriminating evidence against them. During the raid, the police discovered live ammunition, a used motorbike, an unregistered four-wheeler vehicle, and other items potentially linked to their illicit activities.

The gang had previously assaulted a young man and opened fire, resulting in serious injuries to the victim, Nandan Nath. The arrested individuals include Nurmahamad Ali, Sahabuddin, Muhammad Ali, Mehbub Alom, Riyajul alias Panku, and Hamidul Islam. Their apprehension offers a significant breakthrough in the investigation, shedding light on the activities of the gang responsible for creating chaos and endangering public safety.
