Guwahati, 5th September: The prime accused in the assault case involving a maid, APS Subhalakshmi Dutta, who was previously suspended from her post, is currently evading law enforcement, according to emerging reports on Tuesday.
Sources reveal that Dutta had been hiding at the residence of former MLA Kushal Deuri in Guwahati for the past five days after being suspended for her alleged mistreatment of her maid in Nazira, Assam.
Upon receiving information that Dutta had gone into hiding, a team of five police officials from Sivasagar, along with the assistance of Basistha Police, conducted an operation in the Six Mile area of Guwahati to locate the absconding police official. However, upon becoming aware of the police presence, she managed to escape from the scene.
It is now expected that APS Subhalakshmi Dutta will be arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation.
It is worth noting that last month, a formal complaint was lodged by Dutta’s maid, who alleged that her employer had poured hot water onto her body and confined her to a bathroom. The victim bore visible scars from what appeared to be severe abuse, resulting in significant public outrage and demands for accountability.
In response to the incident, the accused police officer was suspended from her position a few days after the allegations came to light.
