Guwahati: The prime accused of the recent Jorhat lynching case was killed in an accident while he tried to flee from police custody on the intervening night of Wednesday.
The prime accused identified as Neeraj Das alias Kola Lora according to the police tried to flee from custody by jumping out of the police vehicle. He while this attempt was hit by the police escort vehicle that was coming from behind.
Immediately, after the accident, the police took him to the JMCH but he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
The police stated that he was being taken to a location visit as he had claimed to show the police the locations of certain drug peddlers and consignments.
It may be mentioned that Das was arrested by the police after he along with 13 others had lynched a student leader in Jorhat.
