Guwahati: The prime accused of Guwahati’s Garigaon gangrape case has been shot dead in an encounter by the Assam Police in early morning on Wednesday.
Assam Police detained Vicky Ali yesterday, and he was transported to Garigaon, Guwahati, late night. Ali was ‘taken dead’ to GMCH following a bullet wound (s).
Vicky Ali, the alleged rapist, not only attempted to run but also fought the officers on the scene. Vicky was shot and sustained injuries, according to Guwahati city police. 2-Lady personnel were also injured during the incident.
Apart from Vicky Ali, four others, Faizur Ali, Puna Ali, Pinku Ali, and Raja Ali, are accused of raping a 16-year-old minor girl and filming the whole thing.
The five boys blackmailed the girl by threatening to post her video on social media if she complained about them.
It may be mentioned that a case was registered in All Women’s Police Station, Panbazar, under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012, Sections 376 (D) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67(B) of the IT Act.
