Prime Accused Sent to 7-Day Police Custody In Ankur Surana Kidnap Case
Guwahati: Prabal Kalita, the main suspect in the kidnapping of Ankur Surana, appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Guwahati on Saturday,
The court has ordered Prabal Kalita to spend seven days in police custody in connection with the matter. Kalita has been brought into jail by the Bharalumukh Police.
The prime accused has surrendered in Rangia on Friday.
Six people in total have been arrested in relation to the kidnapping case.
It may be mentioned that Ankur Surana, the victim who was abducted in Guwahati, had gone out with his friends to party. The investigation was started on February 2 at the Bharalumukh Police Station after the family members reported him missing after he failed to return home.
The investigations successfully lead to the capture of the five people accused in the kidnapping case. The five arrested are Rupam Das (33), Rajen Kaimal (33), Haren Das (48) and Gautam Das (27), residents of Amsing Jorabat under Satgaon Police Station, and Azaharr Choudhury (29), a resident of Hepkuchi under Baihata Police Station.
Ankur Surana was rescued by the police on February 4 and later released with injuries at a location close to the Amching Tea Estate. Ankur Surana admitted that he had been persuaded to attend a party at the PRP Valley resort in Amching, and that on the way there; he had been kidnapped and imprisoned in a room.
